DUSHANBE, July 26, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Prices of some basic food products have risen since the beginning of this year, Ms. Bakhtiya Muhammadiyeva, the chairperson of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, told reporters in Dushanbe on July 23.
According to her, the price of one kilogram of carrots has risen 2.8 times compared to last year. Prices of apples have risen by 25.9 percent, peas – by 24.7 percent, onions – by 13 percent, beef – by 9.2 percent, cultured milk foods – by 8.1 percent, vegetable oil – by 2.3 percent, meat semi-finished products – by 3.4 percent and so forth.
Meanwhile, prices of some basic food products have fallen over the report period. Thus, prices of potatoes have fallen by 27.1 percent, tomatoes – by 28.7 percent, cucumbers – 32 percent, eggs – by 18.6 percent, rice – by 13.7 percent, grade 1 wheat flour – by 6.4 percent, and milk – by 2.2 percent, Muhammadiyeva said.
