DUSHANBE, July 29, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The first meeting of the working group of the council of heads of competent bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member nations authorized to deal with illicit drug trafficking has taken place in Dushanbe today.
According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA) press service, the meeting members include representatives of the competent bodies from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
The meeting is discussing priorities of the activity of the working group, including exchange of experience to raise the efficiency of work of the counternarcotics agencies, exchange of information, monitoring and analysis of the drug situation in the region and drug trafficking routes, and the fight against trans-border drug-trafficking groups that have organized the channel for smuggling narcotics via the so-called northern route and eastern directions, etc.
