KHUJAND, July 30, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Over the first six months of this year, more than 132,000 labor migrants from Sughd province, including some 20,500 women, have worked outside Tajikistan, according to the Sughd labor, employment and social care department.
Sughd seasonal workers have traveled primarily to the Russian Federation (126,412 people) but also to neighboring Kazakhstan (2,302) and Kyrgyzstan (1,170), the source said.
According to him, Sughd labor migrants have also traveled to other countries seeking better employment opportunities: Ukraine – 413 people; other CIS nations – 557 people; and the far abroad countries – 333 people.
