DUSHANBE, August 16, Asia-Plus - Tajikistan will not cope with power deficiency during the winter period, while Roghun HPS and other powers will not be placed in operation, considers the head department of management of the Russian-Tajik (slavic) University Georgi Koshlakov.

«We have a negative balance today, - he has noted. - we buy the electric power several times more, than we sell. Only in the north of the Republic it’s over 1 billion kVh shortages of the electric power annually».

According to G.Koshlakov, there are very large losses in networks in the Republic. «Somewhere there is more than 2 billion kVh, that is 17-18 % annually lost in networks, - he has noted. - Though in the Soviet period our losses were from 6 up to 8 %. Networks are today in very pitiable condition, much numbers are stolen. Besides the consumption structure has very sharply changed in our Republic. Because of absence of natural gas, the population began to use more the electric power.

G.Koshlakov is assured that the Republic could not manage without electric power import for some time. He has noticed that last year the Tajik aluminum company (Talko) has bought from Turkmenistan about 60-70 million kVh the electric power. «If Turkmenistan did not deliver us the electric power, we either had to reduce manufacture at the factory, or to establish even more rigid limit for other categories of consumers».
