DUSHANBE, August 30, 2010, Asia-Plus  -- Children from the disaster-hit families in the city of Kulob have accepted places at two schools.

The Kulob education directorate head Emomali Saydamirov told Asia-Plus today that they will attend schools ## 27 and 30 during the next two years.  “In all, 2,135 children from the disaster-hit families have accepted places in these schools,” Saydamirov said.

He added that the disaster-hit children would have their own school in two years.  A tender for the construction of a new school for children from the disaster-hit families will take place in the near future.

In all, 242,299 pupils, including 112,710 girls, will go schools in the Kulob zone of Khatlon province this school year, The Kulob education official said.  594 schools and preschool institutions, including 14 lyceums and 10 boarding schools, as well as 8 vocational-technical schools now function in the region.
