DUSHANBE, September 2, 2010, Asia-Plus -- President Emomali Rahmon who is also heads the Government has dismissed the chairman of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) and all his deputies, the source at the government said.
According to him, Saymumin Yatimov, formerly deputy chairman of GKNB, has been appointed to head GKNB.
Some local experts consider that Khayriddi Abdurahimov was relieved of his post of chairman of the country’s security service over the August 23 prison break.
In the meantime, presidential press service reports Khayriddin Abdurahimov has resigned on his own
Khayriddin Abdurahimov had served as the GKNB chairman for more than 10 years, since 1999.
Decrees on dismissal of Khayriddin Abdurahimov and appointment of Saymumin Yatimov the GKNB chief were signed by the president today.
