DUSHANBE, September 18, 2010, Asia-Plus -- According to the findings of the poll conducted by the pubic association, Media Consulting, almost 80 percent of the surveyed print media heads are dissatisfied with circulation of their publications.
59 percent of those surveyed consider that their publications have potential for growth and 20 percent consider that they sustain losses due to low circulation.
38 percent of those surveyed named weak distribution system as the main factor that impedes increase in the publication circulation and 23 percent of the surveyed print media heads consider that the main reason is lack of specialists.
The Media Consulting director said they had surveyed heads of 33 print media, including 26 independent print media, 6 sate-run media and one party newspaper.
“Of those 33 print media, 29 are distributed across the whole country, three others are distributed in the provinces and one is distributed in Dushanbe and districts subordinate to the center,” the director said, noting that a total circulation of the surveyed publications is some 180,000 copies.
