DUSHANBE, September 23, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the branch of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) in Sughd province have warded off an attempt of transportation of a large amount of Afghan narcotics via northern Tajikistan to Kyrgyzstan, according to the DCA press service.
A special operation by the drug control officers led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Kyrgyz national in the province on September 22. When searching his Audi, the drug control officers found more than 74 kilograms of raw opium, the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug peddler and an investigation is under way.
