KHUJAND, September 24, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Khujand-based limited liability company, Nikou-Khujand, which is currently standing idle, is seeking buyers for cotton yarn in order to resume operations, the Nikou-Khujand deputy director Tolib Mahmadjonov told Asia-Plus Friday afternoon.
According to him, they are currently conducting negotiations with Moscow company, Diamond, to organize tilling-based operation. “If we reach agreement, Diamond will provide Nikou-Khujand with raw materials and take yarn, paying for processing,” said Mahmadjonov, “We also plan to sign an agreement with Kiev (Ukraine) abrasive-producing company on industrial yarn supplies.”
In the meantime, Nikou-Khujand has not been in operation for more than one and half months. Downtime at the enterprise has resulted from the rise in cotton prices and lack of product market, the deputy director noted, adding that they plan to resume operations in October.
Nikou-Khujand with capacity of producing 100 tons of yarn per month was founded by closed joint-stock company Khujand Invest Cotton.
