DUSHANBE, October 2, 1010, Asia-Plus  -- On Friday October 1, Shukurjon Zuhurov, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), conferred here with Lord Viscount Waverley, head of British Tajikistan All-Party Parliamentary Group.

Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said Tajik speaker had informed British MP of political and social situation in Tajikistan and activities of Tajik parliament.

In the course of the talks, the sides considered issues related to expansion of cooperation between the parliaments of Tajikistan and the United Kingdom.

Zuhurov noted that Tajikistan enjoyed good relations with Great Britain and many projects in the country were being implemented under financial support of the British Government.

The sides agreed that it was necessary to bring parliamentary cooperation between the two countries to a new level, the spokesman said.
