DUSHANBE, October 4, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) will begin a discussion of the draft budget for 2011 in the near future, according to the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Economics, Budget, Finance and Taxes.
“At first the Majlisi Namoyandagon committees will consider the draft budget and the Majlisi Namoyandagon’s session to consider the draft budget is expected to take place in mid-November,” the source said.
We will recall that the government endorsed the draft budget for 2011 at a September 30 session.
Gross domestic product (GDP) for 2010 is estimated at 30.2 billion somoni and the draft budget for 2011 stands at 8.3 billion somoni, which is 1.755 billion somoni more than the budget for this year.
Social spending will account for nearly 50 percent (4.1 billion somoni) of budget allocations, which is 31.2 percent, or 857.6 million somoni, more than social spending of the 2010 budget.
Annual product growth rate is projected at 6.5 percent and inflation is predicted to end 2011 at 9 percent. Deflator index is expected to stand at 12 percent.
