ISFARA, October 6, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The first 70 young men from Isfara (Sughd province) have volunteered for military service, according to the Isfara conscription commission.
The conscription commission head Azimboy Azizov says they were sent to serve in the army on October 5. According to him, the Isfara military registration and enlistment service jointly with local authorities, law enforcement agencies, heads of enterprises and media performed the large-scale preparation for the conscription campaign.
“Recruitment officers held numerous meetings with youth in the villages and the Isfara military registration and enlistment office chief Lieutenant-Colonel Ashourov appeared on local television and answered to questions about conditions of serving in the country’s armed forces,” Azizov said.
According to him, the conscription situation has changed for better in the Vorukh, Navgilem and Shahrak jamoats, where the number of volunteers has considerably increased compared to the previous conscription campaigns.
In all, more than 190 young Isfarans are scheduled to be called up for military services during the autumn conscription campaign.
We will recall that an autumn conscription campaign was launched in Tajikistan on October 1 and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old, who are not members of the armed forces reserve. Young Tajiks are drafted into the country’s armed forces from October through November 2010
