DUSHANBE, October 7, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Iranian Parliament (Majlis-e Shaura-ye Eslami) Speaker Ali Larijani heading Iranian parliamentary delegation will pay a visit to Tajikistan on October 14-15, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
During his stay in Dushanbe, Mr. Larijani will hold talks with high-ranking Tajik state officials, including speakers of both houses of Tajik parliament, to discuss state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Iran and Tajikistan, the source said.
In the meantime, Iran’s news agency, Mehr, reported on September 6 that during his visit to Tajikistan Larijani will meet President Emomali Rahmon as well as his Tajik counterpart. Larijani’s counterpart is also supposed to pay a visit to Iran the exact date of which will be announced later, Mehr said.
The Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran (Majlis-e Shaura-ye Eslami) also called The Iranian Parliament or People''s House, is the national legislative body of Iran. The Parliament currently has 290 representatives, changed from the previous 270 seats since the 18 February 2000 election.
