DUSHANBE, October 14, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s first private air carrier, Somon Air, now also operates flights to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China.
Mahmadyusuf Shodiyev, a spokesman for Dushanbe International Airport, told Asia-Plus Somon Air operated the first flight to Urumqi Wednesday afternoon.
Somon Air is an airline based in Dushanbe. The air carrier now operates to the following destinations: China (Urumqi); Germany (Frankfurt am Main); Kazakhstan (Almaty); Russia (Krasnoyarsk, Moscow, Orenburg, St Petersburg, Sochi, and Yekaterinburg); Tajikistan (Dushanbe, Khujand); Turkey (Istanbul); and United Arab Emirates (Dubai).
