DUSHANBE, October 14, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The Drug Control Agency (DCA) burned 84 kilograms of narcotics today in the presence of representatives from law enforcement and judicial bodies as well as local and foreign media.
A totaled included 42 kilograms of heroin, 41.5 kilograms of raw opium and inconsiderable amount of hashish.
The drugs were confiscated in the course of 2009-2010 and were material evidences in 12 criminal cases instituted against 18 persons, sentences in which took effect.
This was not the first drug burning held by the counternarcotics agency this year. Since the beginning of the year, DCA has destroyed more than 605 kilograms of narcotics, the source said, noting that DCA has destroyed some 15 tons of narcotics since June 1999, when it was established.
