KHUJAND, October 15, 2010, Asia-Plus -- On Friday October 15, 600 recruits from Sughd province were sent to serve with the armed forces in the southern part of the country.
Azam Qosimov, the chief of the Sughd regional military registration and enlistment office, told Asia-Plus Friday afternoon that local district and city administrations have made contribution to preparation of local youth for serving in the army. “The have bought sports uniform, envelopes, pens, notebooks, dry rations and essentials for conscripts,” Qosimov said.
According to him, Sughd province has reached 45 percent of its autumn conscription target by October 15.
We will recall that the autumn conscription campaign is carried out from October through November, and the draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
