DUSHANBE, October 15, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Heads of Tajik media organizations, print and electronic media yesterday sent a letter to Saymurod Fattoyev, State Adviser to the President of Tajikistan for Social Development and Public Relations, in which they express concern about pressure made on independent media lately.
The Media Council Secretary General Mukhtor Boqizoda says the letter, in particular, cites cases of printing houses’ refusal to print some independent newspapers and blockage of some web sites.
In their letter, heads of 14 media organizations as well as print and electronic media ask Mr. Fattoyev to meet with them and clarify reasons for the current situation around independent media in the country.
