KHUJAND, October 15, 2010, Asia-Plus -- Tajik-Austrian joint venture, Petroleum Sugd, which operates in Sughd province, has reportedly more than doubled gas productions this year, the Petroleum Sugd CTO Ilhom Zohirov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
Over the first nine months of this year, the enterprise has produced 5.136 million cubic meters of natural gas in the area, which is more than two times more than in the same period last year, Zohirov noted.
According to him, it has become possible due to rehabilitation of gas well # 66.
“The enterprise owns five gas wells and only one of them -- well # 66 – is operational, while the remaining four ones are still at the so-called stage of development,” CTO said.
Zohirov added that natural gas produced by Petroleum Sugd was supplied to residents of the settlement of Nefteobod and partially to residential customers in Konibodom.
