KHUJAND, October 16, 2010, Asia-Plus -- More than 20 kilograms of hashish were seized in Khujand and Chkalovsk in an operation carried out by Sughd police officers on October 10 and 14.
The 34-year-old resident of Chkalovsk, N. Qurbonov, was detained Thursday on suspicion of having been involved in large-scale drug pushing, according to the Sughd police directorate.
“On October 10, Qurbonov sold more than two kilograms of hashish to undercover police officer in Khujand,” said the source, “On October 14, Qurbonov was detained in Chkalovsk and package containing narcotic drug, tested positive to hashish weighing 18.4 kilograms, was found in his Mercedes.”
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against N. Qurbonov and an investigation is under way.
