DUSHANBE, October 27, 2010, Asia-Plus -- A delegation of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), led by its speaker, Shukurjon Zuhurov, is attending the events of the CIS and Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) inter-parliamentary assemblies that are taking place in St. Petersburg today.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a speaker for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says meetings of the permanent commissions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly for defense and security, socioeconomic and legal issues, as well as political issues and international cooperation took place yesterday. The meetings discussed harmonization of laws on the CSTO member nations on combating terrorism, extremis, etc.
The fourth plenary session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly that is taking place today will discuss the progress of work on creating a crisis response system within the Organization and recommendations on harmonization of national laws on military and technical cooperation.
The 35th plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly will be held on October 28. The session is expected to discuss 13 issues and adopt model laws on passport and visa documents and other identifying documents of new generation as well as on national border, border security, etc.
An international conference titled “The OSCE and CIS: New Opportunities and Prospects” will take place in St. Petersburg tomorrow and Tajik speaker will deliver a statement at this conference, the spokesman said.
According to him, Shukurjon Zuhurov will hold talks with his Belarusian counterpart, V. Andreychenko, on sidelines of the events in St. Petersburg.
