DUSHANBE, October 27, 2010, Asia-Plus -- In January-September 2010, Tajik law enforcement authorities have arrested 687 people on drug charges, including 37 foreign nationals, the Drug Control Agency director Rustam Nazarov told reporters in Dushanbe on October 27.
“The 37 foreign nationals detained in the country on drug charge over the report period include 20 Afghans as well as nationals of Russia, Lithuania, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Nigeria, the Philippines and even Saudi Arabia,” Tajik drug control kingpin noted.
According to him, 326 Tajik nationals have been detained outside Tajikistan for drug trafficking, over the same nine-month period, primarily in the Russian Federation (91 percent). “Besides, 21 Tajik nationals were detained in Uzbekistan, five in Kazakhstan and one in Kyrgyzstan,” Nazarov said.
