DUSHANBE, November 3, 2010, Asia-Plus - Feasibility study for the construction of the future railroad that will link China-Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran will be conducted by the Iranian engineering company “Metro”, Tajik Minister of Transport and Communications Olimjon Boboev told the reporters today.

According to him, Iran allocated 1mln USD to the Government of Tajikistan for the given feasibility study.

Additionally, today the Lower Chamber of Tajikistan’s Parliament ratified a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Iran and Tajikistan on the development of Iran’s assistance to Tajikistan, according to which Iranian company will be exempted from taxes and customs fees in the course of the feasibility study.

Tajik Minister also said that Tajikistan has already prepared some parameters of the feasibility study and funds allocated by Iran will be enough to cover all related expenditures.

“Each participating country is responsible for the conduction of feasibility study for the construction of railroad on their territories,” Boboev has said.

According to him, at least 3,5bln USD required for the construction of the Tajik section of this road which is 392km long.
