KULOB, November 11, 2010, Asia-Plus -- 64 mini hydropower plants with a total capacity of 446 kW are currently operating in three mountain districts of the Kulob zone, Khatlon province.
In all, there are 73 mini hydropower plants in the area, but nine of them have not yet been launched for a number of reasons, the head of the Kulob power supply network Mirzo Ismoilov said. According to him, 68 mini hydropower plants are located in Shouroobod district, thee others are in Baljuvon districts and two mini hydropower plants are in Khovaling district.
In the meantime, work on constructing mini hydropower plants in the village of Khorma in Baljuvon and in the village of Mehnatobod in Vose district is progressing. “Introduction of these two mini hydropower plants into operation will increase a total capacity of the mini hydropower plants operating in the region to 681 kW,” Ismoilov said.
