KHUJAND, September 7, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Over the first eight months of this year, officers from the Sughd regional body empowered to combat drug trafficking (OBNON) and local police stations have seized more than 310 kilograms of narcotics, Nasim Olimov, the head of the OBNON analytical department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“Over the report period, police officers have seized more than 21 kilograms of heroin and more than 275 kilograms of hashish,” Olimov noted.
According to the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Sughd province, over the same eight-month period, all the Sughd law enforcement agencies have seized more than 465 kilograms of narcotics, with more than 96 kilograms of them being heroin.
