DUSHANBE, October 5, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Police officers have reportedly seized a large consignment of narcotics in the Vose district, Khatlon province.
According to the Interior Ministry, Vose resident, K.V., was detained yesterday on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing. “Several packages containing seven kilograms of raw opium and some 27 kilograms of cannabis were found hidden in his Mercedes,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher and an investigation is under way.
According to the statistical data from the Interior Ministry, Tajik law enforcement authorities have seized 3,152 kilograms of narcotics over the first eight months of this year, which is 31.5 percent more than in the same period last year.
