KHUJAND, October 22, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Over the first nine months of this year, coalfields located in the northern Sughd province have produced more than 80,700 tons of coal, which is 31 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Sughd regional administration.
The Fon-Yaghnob enterprise in Ayni district has produced 51,762 tons of coal over the report period, which is 18,000 tons more than last year, the source said.
Five large and small coal-extracting enterprises now operate in northern Tajikistan: Fon-Yaghnob in Ayni district; Dion (phonetically spelled) Angisht Tajikistan in Panjakent district; Angisht in Isfara district; Anzob in Ayni district; and Koni Angishti Ghuzn in Kuhistoni Mastchoh district.
Current price of one kilogram of coal in Khujand is 90 diram (0.90 somoni), the source added.
