KHUJAND, October 28, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Resident of the Ghonchi district in Sughd province, Sulton Saidov, 46, has got a long jai term fro killing his underage daughter, according to the Sughd prosecutor’s office.
A court in the Ghonchi district sentenced Sulton Saidov to 18 ½ years in prison on October 27, but he has his prison term cut by two years under an amnesty. The sentence followed his conviction on the charge of brutally killing his 15-year-old daughter. Saidov will serve his term in a high-security penal colony
“Sulton Saidov was working as common jobber in Khujand,” said the source, “One day, his wife called him and said that unknown persons seated their daughter into a car and took away. When Saidov came home he knew that his daughter got into the car voluntarily just to go to the neighboring village. Saidov, however, considered that she disgraced him and decided to kill her.”
According to him, Saidov brutally killed the girl with an ax in front of his wife.
Over the first nine months of this year, 33 murders have been reported in the northern Sughd province, which is four cases fewer than in 2010.
