DUSHANBE, November 28, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- The Agrarian Party of Tajikistan (APT) held its congress in Dushanbe on November 26.

The APT leader Amir Qaraqulov, who is also deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), was reelected the chairman of the party, the source said.

Rustam Latipov, who is also deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon, was elected the principal deputy chairman of the party.

The congress heard the report by party board on the results of work carried out over the past two years and determined tasks for the coming three years, the source added.  

Founded in 2005, the Agrarian Party of Tajikistan was registered with the Ministry of Justice the same year.  APT reportedly has some 30 registered members.  It gained more than 5 percent in the country’s 2010 parliamentary elections and received two seats in the lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of the parliament.
