DUSHANBE, November 29, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s tanneries have reportedly increased production volumes this year.
According to the Ministry of Energy ad Industries (MoEI), local tanneries have processed more than 820,000 skins of cattle as well as sheep and goats over the first ten months of this year, which is 4.6 times more than in the same period last year.
Two new tanneries with a total annual capacity of more than 450,000 cattle skins were introduced into operation in September, the source at a MoEI said.
He added that over the same ten-month period, local tanneries have also processed 320 tons of wool for a total amount of more than 1.4 million somoni.
Increase in production volumes has reportedly resulted from introduction of temporary ban on raw materials exports.
