DUSHANBE, December 5, 2011, Asia-Plus -- A meeting of the Tajik Migration Service head Safiallo Devonayev with representatives of Tajik communities from Kazan, Ufa, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Yaroslavl, Ryazan, Lipetsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Tyumen and Omsk took place at the Tajik Embassy in Moscow on December 3.
According to the Tajik Embassy press center, Tajik Ambassador to Russia Abdulmajid Dostiyev who also attended the meeting underlined the peculiarity of the current state of interstate relations between Tajikistan and Russia. At the same time, he pointed out the firmness of principles of strategic partnership and Tajikistan’s tendency to integration and strengthening of cooperation.
Tajik communities must play an important positive role and strive for consolidation and unity of their ranks, Ambassador Dostiyev noted.
Devonayev, for his part, informed those present of the current migration situation in the Russian Federation. He pointed to the necessity of using official data while assessing the labor migration situation and avoiding loose interpretation and conclusions. There are attempts to use the labor migration theme for political goals, the Tajik Migration Service head said.
He also noted that the Migration Service was successively implementing tasks on improvement of the state of migrant workers, using all possible mechanisms both at national and interagency level, in cooperation with institutions of civil society, international organizations and media, the source said.
The meeting participants reportedly decided to adopt an appeal to fellow-countrymen living in the Russian Federation.
