DUSHANBE, December 12, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- Dushanbe Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev held an enlarged meeting of municipal administrators on December 10.

Heads of the law enforcement agencies, clerics as well as members of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper house of parliament) and deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (the lower chamber of Tajik parliament) representing Dushanbe also attended the meeting.

Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor’s office, says that the capital mayor noted at the meeting that above-target receipts to the city budget will go to financing repairs to roads and sidewalks in Dushanbe’s neighborhoods.  In this connection, Ubaidulloyev asked to organize public control over use of funds.

Issues related to prevention of appearance of religious sects that are alien to the Tajik people in society were among major topics of the meeting.  The mayor asked the Council of Ulamo (an Islamic council that issues fatwas and religious guidance to Islamic religious organizations in Tajikistan) to organize regular attestation of imams of mosques in Dushanbe, the spokesman said.
