DUSHANBE, January 10, 2012, Asia-Plus -- 16,864 crimes were reported in Tajikistan in 2011, which is 16 percent more than in 2010, representatives from the Prosecutor-General’s Office announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 10.
5,005 serious crimes were registered in the country last year, which is 1,259 cases more than in 2010.
Compared to 2010 there was also increase in robberies, drug trafficking, fraud, extortion and economic crimes and crimes involving illegally bearing, possessing, acquiring, and manufacturing weapons.
Compared to 2010, there was a double increase in the number of crimes committed by minors. The number of such crimes increased from 530 in 2010 to 1,075 in 2011.
