DUSHANBE, January 10, 2012, Asia-Plus -- A 58-year-old unemployed has been detained in Dushanbe on suspicion of having been involved in drug pushing.
The source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) says 113 match boxes containing narcotic drug that tested positive to cannabis weighing 844 grams have been confiscated from the detainee.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug peddler and an investigation is under way.
Tajik police officers reportedly intercepted some 1,900 kilograms of narcotics last year. A totaled included 131.5 kilograms of raw opium, 236.5 kilograms of heroin and some 1,532 kilograms of cannabis.
