DUSHANBE, January 12, 2012, Asia-Plus -- An operation by drug control officers has led to the seizure of more than 100 kilograms of narcotics in the Tajik capital.
A multistage operation by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) has led to the arrest of drug trafficker in Dushanbe, the DCA source said.
According him, when searching the drug pusher’s minivan, the drug control officers found 196 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing some 100 kilograms and two packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing some 2 kilograms. Besides, 5,300 U.S. dollars were confiscated from the drug pusher.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug pusher under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – large-scale drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
The grey market price of the seized narcotics is more than 42,000 U.S. dollars, while in Russia and European countries the price is several times higher, the DCA experts noted.
