DUSHANBE, January 31, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- Tajikistan has reportedly reduced natural gas production.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), Tajikistan last year produced little more than 18.8 million cubic meters of natural gas, which was 5.6 million cubic meters fewer than it was originally planned and 10.4 percent fewer than in 2010.

A total cost of natural gas produced last year is more than 16 million somoni, which was 5.6 percent fewer than in 2010, the source said.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan produced 28,700 tons of oil last year, which was 1,500 tons more than in 2010 and 163 tons more than it was originally planned.

A total cost of oil produced in the country last year is 27.3 million somoni, which was 3.7 million somoni more than it was originally planned and 25.2 percent more than in 2010.

In 2011, the country’s performance stock included 156 wells (145 oil wells and 11 gas wells), the source added.
