DUSHANBE, February 8, 2012, Asia-Plus -- A drug peddler was detained with drugs in his stomach at the airport in the southern city of Kulob yesterday.
According to the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan, the 32-year-old resident of Kulob, B.A., was detained during inspection of passengers on the Kulob-Moscow flight on suspicion of having been involved in drug smuggling.
“The peddler had ingested 125 wraps of narcotic drug that tested positive to heroin weighing some 500 grams,” the source said, noting that customs officers have seized 2 kilograms of heroin and hashish since the beginning of this year.
