DUSHANBE, February 27, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized a large consignment of hashish in the southern Khatlon province.
According to the DCA press center, an operation carried out by the drug control officers in the Panj district on February 25 led to the arrest of two alleged drug pushers – 47-year-old resident of the Panj district, who had previous conviction for illegal possession of weapons, and 19-year-old student from the Military Institute under the Ministry of Defense. “15 packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 15 kilograms were confiscated from them,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them under the provisions of Article 200 (4) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – drug trafficking; an investigation is under way.
