DUSHANBE, March 1, 2012, Asia-Plus -- On Wednesday February 29, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzoda received China’s Ambassador to Tajikistan Fan Xianrong, the press center of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) reports.
In the course of the talks, the two discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China.
A special attention was paid to expansion of bilateral cooperation in sectors like agriculture and industry.
Mr. Rahimzoda hailed an efficient participation of China’s large companies in implementation of projects in Tajikistan.
For his part, Mr. Fan noted that he would undertake efforts to promote further expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and China.
Last year, China was reportedly Tajikistan’s second trade partner after the Russian Federation.
According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and China in 2011 valued at more than 660 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to China estimated at more than 254 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from China worth more than 406 million U.S. dollars.
