DUSHANBE, March 5, 2012, Asia-Plus -- The first meeting of Tajik-Azeri intergovernmental commission for trade and economic cooperation has opened in Dushanbe today.
An official source at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT) says the meeting, co-chaired by Tajik Minister of Land Reclamation and Water Resources Rahmat Bobokalonov and Azeri Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev, is considering a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further mutually beneficial economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.
Legal foundation for bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan reportedly includes 21 documents.
According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, trade between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan last year valued at 24.1 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Azerbaijan estimated at little more than 2.3 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Azerbaijan 21.8 million U.S. dollars.
