QURGHON TEPPA, April 5, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- Three top managers of a cattle breeding farm in the southern Khatlon province have got long jail terms for the embezzlement of the public funds.

A court in Khatlon’s Panj district ruled on April 4 that Muhabbat Adhamov, the director of the “Panj” Cattle Breeding Farm, be given a jail term of 13 years.  Besides, Suyunhal Eshonqulov, the chief accountant with the “Panj” Cattle Breeding Farm, Mannon Qosimov, the head of the diary farm at the “Panj” Cattle Breeding Farm, and Akbar Adhamov, the director of the “Sarhad” Farm in the Panj district, were sentenced to 8 ½ years in prison each.

Gulmahmad Pirov, a senior aide to the Khatlon prosecutor, says the sentence followed their conviction on charges of the misappropriation or embezzlement of the public funds, misuse of powers, and service fraud.

According to him, the damage caused to the country’s economy by them has been estimated at more than 750,000 somoni.
