The 9th session of the Tajik-Iranian intergovernmental commission for trade and economic, scientific and technical and cultural cooperation in Tehran resulted in signing of five agreements in various spheres.
As reported by IRNA, the documents cover such spheres as energy, health, economic cooperation, cyber technologies, communication and transport.
Iranian Energy Minister and co-chairman of the Tajik-Iranian intergovernmental commission Majeed Nomjui highly evaluated activity of the 9th session which was dedicated to consideration of multiple issues which hamper the implementation of joint projects.
On Monday Mr.Nomjui said that Iran and Tajikistan are planning to increase the volume of joint investments in different areas and develop bilateral cooperation.
“Establishment of the intergovernmental commission shows a strong will of the two states towards strengthening of bilateral relations in all spheres,” he said.
Iranian energy minister stressed that there is a need to speed up implementation of bilateral documents.
Mr.Nomjui also said that Iran is holding talks with Tajikistan on import of at least 1bln cubic meters of drinking water.
As reported by the Tehran Times, Iranian minister said that Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan have agreed to set up the joint water and energy corridor.
““National energy networks of the three countries should be connected to a 500-kilowatt power line,” he said, adding that technical aspects of the project and the volume of required investments are being currently evaluated.
Mr.Nomjui also stressed that in March this year leaders of Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan signed a memorandum of mutual understanding for construction of the road that will link the three countries.
