DUSHANBE, July 19, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- On Thursday July 19, the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) elected new judges of the Supreme Court of Tajikistan upon the recommendation of the President.

Mahmoudjon Ashourov, formerly chairman of the Shahrinav court, was elected the principal deputy chairman of the Supreme Court.

Tojiddin Qodirov, formerly chairman of the Temourmalik court, Savriddin Toshev, formerly chairman of the Fayzobod court, and Akhtam Akramov, formerly chairman of the Roghun court, were elected judges at the Supreme Court of Tajikistan.

Mirzo Shoimov, who had previously served as chairman of the Jirgatol court, was elected judge at the High Economic Court of Tajikistan.

We will recall that under Article 56 of Tajikistan’s Constitution, the Majlisi Milli elect and recalls the chairman, deputy chairmen, and judges of the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, and High Economic Court upon the recommendation of the President
