QURGHON TEPPA, July 31, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Suhrob Fayzaliyev, an investigator with border unit # 2610 of the Main Border Guard Directorate of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), which is deployed in Khatlon’s Panj district, has been arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking. 379 kilograms of narcotics have been confiscated from him.
Khatlon law enforcement authorities say Fayzaliyev was detained in the border area of Panj district in the night of July 21-22. “Eight sacks and one box containing 21.6 kilograms of heroin, 37 kilograms of raw opium and 320.86 kilograms of hashish were confiscated from him,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Fayzaliyev under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: drug trafficking; smuggling; and illegal border crossing. An investigation is under way.
