DUSHANBE, February 12, 2014, Asia-Plus – Issues related to cooperation between the European Union and Tajikistan in the agrarian sector were discussed here yesterday at a meeting of Tajik Minister of Agriculture Qosim Rohbar with Mr. Dirk Meganck, European Commission''s Director for Asia, Central Asia, Middle East/Gulf and Pacific.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) press center, the sides also discussed the opportunities of the European Union’s assistance to Tajikistan in 2014-2020.
Tajik minister reportedly expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation and noted that the European Union had made considerable contribution to development of Tajikistan’s agrarian sector and ensuring food security of the country.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation in promoting an effective implementation of Tajikistan’s agriculture reform program designed for 2012-2020, the source said.
The Directorate for Asia, Central Asia, Middle East/Gulf and Pacific (DEVCO.H) is responsible for the bilateral and regional cooperation with Asia, Central Asia, Middle East/Gulf and the Pacific. It contributes to the development of multiannual programming and ensures coordination in the implementation of operations, putting financing in place. Moreover, the Directorate promotes methodological coherence and quality assurance in collaboration with other Directorates and supports Delegations with projects and programs.
