DUSHANBE, March 4, 2014, Asia-Plus -- Cooperation between Kyrgyz and Tajik police on stabilizing the situation in disputed areas of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border has been established at high level, Kyrgyz Deputy Interior Minister, Kursan Asanov, told journalists in Dushanbe on March 4.
“Our main task is in providing security of our countries and jointly combating organized transnational crime, religious extremism and terrorism,” Asanov noted.
According to him, Kyrgyz and Tajik police now jointly patrol eight border areas.
Kyrgyz Deputy Interior Minister, Kursan Asanov, is a member of the Kyrgyz delegation that participated in a meeting of the Tajik-Kyrgyz intergovernmental commission for demarcation and delimitation of disputed segments of mutual border that took place in Dushanbe on March 3.
