DUSHANBE, March 19, 2015, Asia-Plus – The Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) in cooperation with local social organizations, IRODA, Rushdi Incluziya, and SiDa, conducted a three- day tutor training at Secondary School No.72 in Dushanbe on March 16-18.
According to AAR Japan Resident Office in Tajikistan, the training welcomed participants with diverse backgrounds, mothers of children with disabilities, staff from local organizations, and students from the Tajik National University, Tajik State Pedagogical University, and Russian-Tajik Slavonic University.
During the training, participants reportedly acquired basic knowledge of different types of disabilities and learned how tutors can effectively support children with disabilities who study at mainstream school.
38 participants completed the training and 10 tutors and several volunteers are expected to start working at AAR Japan’s partner schools, secondary schools No.28, No.72, No.53, and No.54 of Dushanbe.
The training was organized as a part of the project, Promotion of Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Dushanbe (Phase 2), which is financially supported by the Japanese government.
