DUSHANBE, January 29, 2011, Asia-Plus -- A valuation mission of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) arrived in Dushanbe on January 27 for a 10-day working visit, according to the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest).
The purpose of the visit is for the mission to review IsDB-sponsored projects in the country, the source said.
On January 27, the GosKomInvest head Davlatali Saidov met with the IsDB mission. During their stay in Tajikistan the mission members will review implementation of projects of the Bank in the country and technical assistance provided by the Bank to Tajikistan from 1996 to 2010.
“The IsDB has introduced the practice of making full estimation of technical assistance and grants it provides only this year and Tajikistan is the first nation, where it is made,” the source added.
Islamic Development Bank (also known as IsDB), is a multilateral development financing institution located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was founded by the first conference of Finance Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), convened on December 18, 1973. The bank officially began its activities on 20 October 1975. There are 54 shareholding member states.
The present membership of the Bank consists of 56 countries. The basic condition for membership is that the prospective member country should be a member of the OIC, pay its contribution to the capital of the Bank and be willing to accept such terms and conditions as may be decided upon by the IsDB Board of Governors.
