DUSHANBE, April 26, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Drivers of fixed-route taxies who illegally raise passenger fares will be punished under the country’s administrative code, Firouz Rasoulov, head of the Dushanbe public transportation oversight department, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, similar measures will also be introduced against drivers who change routes. “Over the past two days alone, we have revealed six cases of unauthorized rise in fares from 1.00 to 2.00 somoni,” Rasoulov said.
The municipal public transportation official also called on passengers to actively participate in revealing drivers who illegally raise fares or change routes.
