DUSHANBE, June 20, 2011, Asia-Plus – The Consultative Group (CG) at the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan held its first meeting in Dushanbe on June 17.
Ms. Gavhar Homidova, a spokeswoman for the Tax Committee, says the consultative group has been set up for collection and preparation of proposals for the country’s new tax code.
According to her, the meeting endorsed the status of the consultative group and its leadership. Rustam Jabborov, deputy head of Tax Committee, has been appointed to head the group and Saidakhtam Abdulloyev, an aide to the Tax Committee head, has been appointed deputy head of the group.
The CG members include representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, the State Committee for Investments and State-owned Property Management, the Association of Microfinance Organizations of Tajikistan, local banks and Internet-providers as well as international organizations operating in Tajikistan.
“The meeting also endorsed the plan of actions for this year,” said Homidova, “Under this plan, the CG is to submit its proposals regarding improvement of the country’s taxation system to the working group until July 15. The CG is also expected to consider and analyze proposals received until mid-August and prepare consolidated proposal in September and submit it for consideration to the working group, set up for development of the new tax code.”
The consultative group is dedicated to ensure wide and transparent discussion of measures for improvement of the country’s tax collection system, the spokeswoman added.
