DUSHANBE, June 30, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The 50th session of the CIS Economic Council, presided over by Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Farrukh Hamraliyev, took place in Dushanbe on June 28.
According to the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, the session considered more than ten issues related to economic cooperation between the CIS member states.
The session, in particular, highlighted the draft treaty on free trade zone, the plan of action to fulfill the second stage (2012-2015) of the 2020 CIS Economic Development Concept, and the Concept of the CIS Strategic Railways Development.
The meeting participants also discussed the process of development of the Analytical report “The Results of the CIS''s Activity over 20 Years and the Tasks for the Outlook,” the results of implementation of the 2009-2010 plan of joint actions to overcome the global financial and economic crisis, and the process of work on the graded lifting of restrictions in mutual between the CIS nations.
After the session, members of the CIS Economic Council took part in the opening of an interstate exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of the Commonwealth of the Independent States, 20 Years of the CIS: to the New Horizons of Partnership.
